Public Relations Communication Strategy Triangle Pase Inc. East Aceh Regency in Maintaining the Company's Image During the Pandemi Covid-19 Crisis

Introduction

The Pandemi Covid-19 has had a significant impact on various sectors, including the company. This crisis not only has an impact on the company's operations, but can also shake the image and reputation that has been built for years. Triangle Pase Inc., a company engaged in gas in East Aceh Regency, faces double challenges in the middle of the pandemic. Besides having to adapt to the health protocol and changes in consumer behavior, they are also faced with criticism from the community related to road damage due to company operations in the residential area.

Background of the Study

The study examines the public relations communication strategy implemented by Triangle Pase Inc. in dealing with the crisis. By using the Coombs Crisis Communication Theory and descriptive qualitative methods, this research analyzes the strategies applied, obstacles encountered, and efforts made by the company to maintain a positive image. The study aims to provide insights into the effective public relations communication strategy that can be applied by companies in similar situations.

Methodology

The data was collected through interviews with one major informant from internal employees of Triangle Pase Inc. in East Aceh, and four supporting informants who live around the company area. In addition, field observations and documentation studies were also used. The study used a qualitative approach to analyze the data and identify the patterns and themes related to the public relations communication strategy implemented by Triangle Pase Inc.

Results

The results showed that Triangle Pase Inc. applied a crisis communication strategy which is divided into three stages, namely pre-critic, crisis, and post-crisis. At the pre-critic stage, the company focuses on building good relations with the community through the CSR program and open communication. When the crisis appeared, they immediately responded with clarification, apologies, and improvement efforts. The post-crisis stage is focused on rebuilding public trust through sustainable social and communication activities.

Discussion

Despite trying to build effective communication, Triangle Pase Inc. face several obstacles. Internal barriers include the lack of human resources trained in crisis communication, limited facilities and infrastructure, as well as financial constraints. Meanwhile, external barriers come from the low level of education and the level of community compliance in receiving information.

Recommendations

This research provides several recommendations for companies that face a similar crisis:

Internal Capacity Building

The company needs to increase the capacity of its human resources in terms of crisis management and public communication.
Proper training and planned communication strategies are very important to manage the crisis effectively.

Improved Communication

Effective communication strategies involve open dialogue, transparency, and responsiveness to the needs of the community.
It is important to build continuous communication, not only when a crisis occurs, but also during the normal period.

Increasing Community Participation

Increasing community participation in the decision making process and problem solving will build a sense of ownership and reduce conflict.
It is essential to involve the community in the decision-making process to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed.

Increasing Community Literacy

It is important to increase community literacy through education and socialization programs to facilitate the process of delivering information and building trust.
Community literacy is crucial in ensuring that the community can understand and respond to the information provided by the company.

Conclusion

This study shows that strategic and adaptive public relations communication is very important in dealing with crises such as Pandemi Covid-19. By understanding the dynamics of society and implementing the right communication strategy, companies can build a positive image and maintain a good reputation even in difficult conditions.

Limitations of the Study

This study has several limitations. Firstly, the study only focused on Triangle Pase Inc. and did not generalize the findings to other companies. Secondly, the study only used qualitative methods and did not use quantitative methods to validate the findings. Finally, the study only focused on the public relations communication strategy and did not consider other factors that may influence the company's image and reputation.
