Improve the Efficiency of Management of Pharmaceutical Preparations at Medan City Health Center with a Web-Based Information System

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 has brought significant changes in the world of health, including in the pharmaceutical preparation management system at the Puskesmas. Web-based information systems, such as Puskesmas Pharmacy Information Systems (Sifamas), offer efficient solutions to overcome various obstacles faced by Puskesmas in managing drug supplies and medical devices. Effective management of pharmaceutical preparations is crucial in ensuring the quality of health services provided to the community.

In this context, the development of a web-based information system for managing pharmacy and BMHP (Badan Madani dan Kesehatan Masyarakat) at the Medan City Health Center is essential. Sifamas, a web-based information system, was developed to improve the efficiency of pharmaceutical preparation management at the Puskesmas. This system was designed to overcome various obstacles faced by Puskesmas in managing drug supplies and medical devices.

Research Methodology

This research was conducted to analyze the impact of the application of Sifamas and assess the level of approval of the pharmacists at the Medan City Health Center. A comparative study method was used, comparing the condition of pharmaceutical preparations before and after the application of Sifamas. A total of six pharmacists in charge of the Phase Puskesmas Pharmacy Room were involved in this study.

Sifamas was developed using the Waterfall model and tested through the Alpha and Beta Testing stages. Data regarding planning, procurement, distribution, storage, recording, and reporting were collected for three months before and after the application of Sifamas. The data was then analyzed, while the level of approval of Sifamas was considered using a questionnaire on a Likert scale.

Results and Discussion

The results showed that before the application of Sifamas, Puskesmas in Medan experienced several problems, such as planning discrepancy with needs, low procurement frequencies, and lack of FIFO/FEFO standards in storage. In addition, only one Puskesmas (Puskesmas Mandala) succeeded in meeting the standard of expiration drugs, and shipping LPLPO (Drug Procurement Request Sheet) is also not always on time.

After the application of Sifamas, there is a significant increase in the management of pharmaceutical preparations. All Puskesmas succeeded in sending LPLPO on time and meets the suitability standards of real goods with stock cards. The application of the FIFO/FEFO system can also be maintained consistently. The results of the evaluation of Alpha and Beta Testing show that Sifamas can be accepted and suitable for use as a pharmaceutical preparation management information system. Sifamas received high approval from all respondents, with an average approval rate of 85.39%.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Sifamas has a significant positive impact in improving the efficiency of pharmaceutical preparations in the Medan City Health Center. Sifamas was proven to be able to overcome the various obstacles faced by the Puskesmas in managing the supply of medicines and medical devices. Sifamas is a web-based information system that is easy to use and effective in helping Puskesmas to improve the quality of health services for the community.
