Introduction

This technique involves amplifying the DNA of the fish using a set of primers and then analyzing the resulting DNA fragments to identify any genetic variations. The results of the PCR amplification were then analyzed using the Numerical Taxonomy and Multivariate Analysis System (NTSYS) 2.0 program to get a picture of the genetic diversity of the Batak fish population.

The results of this study indicate that morphologically and genetically, the Batak fish originating from Batangtoru has a higher genetic closeness with fish from the Alian River compared to fish originating from the Bahorok River.
