Introduction

Drinking mineral water is a basic necessity for everyone, and among the various brands of mineral water available on the market, Aqua has become a favorite choice for many consumers, including students. The Faculty of Economics of USU Medan conducted a study to uncover the psychological factors that influence the decisions of extension management students in choosing Aqua as their choice of drink. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the factors that drive student purchasing decisions, particularly in the context of Aqua mineral water.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal design to examine the effect of motivation (X1), perception (X2), learning (X3), trust, and attitude (X4) on the decision to purchase Aqua mineral water. A total of 83 respondents were randomly selected from the extension management students of the Faculty of Economics of USU Medan. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation studies, and analyzed using descriptive methods and multiple linear regression with SPSS 17.0.

Results

The results of the analysis show that motivation, perception, learning, trust, and attitude have a positive and significant influence on Aqua purchasing decisions. This means that the higher the motivation, positive perception, knowledge, beliefs, and positive attitudes towards Aqua, the more likely students are to choose Aqua. Furthermore, the study found that trust and attitude are the dominant factors that affect Aqua purchasing decisions. Students tend to choose Aqua because they trust the quality and safety of their products, and have a positive attitude towards this brand.
