The Effect of Rapid Root Concentration and NPK Fertilizer 32-10-10 on the Growth of Gelugur Acid Root Cuttings (Garcinia Atroviridis Griff)

Introduction

In the field of agriculture and plant propagation, root cuttings are a popular method used to multiply plants, including the gelugur acid plant (Garcinia Atroviridis Griff). This study aims to investigate the effect of rapid root concentration and NPK fertilizer 32-10-10 on the growth of gelugur acid root cuttings. The use of rapid root as a root stimulant agent and NPK fertilizer as a complete fertilizer can significantly impact the growth and development of plants. Understanding the optimal concentration of rapid root and NPK fertilizer is crucial for farmers and plant farmers to achieve optimal results.

Methodology

This study was conducted in Sayum Sabah Village, Sibolangit, from October 2003 to August 2004. The experimental design used was a factorial complete random design, consisting of two factors: rapid root concentration and NPK fertilizer 32-10-10. The rapid root concentration was divided into four levels: RO (0 ppm), R1 (5000 ppm), R2 (10000 ppm), and R3 (15000 ppm). The NPK fertilizer 32-10-10 was divided into three levels: P0 (0 g/L), P1 (1 g/l), and P2 (2 g/l).

Results

The results of this study showed that the use of rapid root concentration had a significant effect on several growth parameters, including the speed of buds growth, the percentage of bud growth, the amount of root, root volume, and fresh and dry weight of the roots. However, this effect was not significant in the length of the buds, the diameter of the shoots, the number of leaves, the number of shoots, as well as the fresh and dry weight of the shoots, and the length of the root.

On the other hand, the application of NPK fertilizer 32-10-10 in various concentrations did not have a significant effect on all observed parameters. The interaction between rapid root and NPK fertilizer 32-10-10 also showed an insignificant result of the observed parameters. This indicates that although rapid root can accelerate some aspects of root cutting growth, the use of NPK fertilizer 32-10-10 does not increase this effect.

Discussion

The results of this study provide valuable insight into the development of the technique of multiplying gelugur acid plants through root cuttings. Rapid root, as a root stimulant agent, serves to stimulate faster and more root growth. Conversely, NPK fertilizer, which is a complete fertilizer, serves to provide nutrients needed by plants.
