Introduction

However, in the case of the North Nias Regency Library and Archives Office, the library only attracts a meager 10-15 visitors every day. This indicates a significant obstacle in efforts to attract the interest of the community to utilize library services. This study aims to identify the factors that contribute to the low use of the library by using descriptive methods and quantitative approaches.

Background

The library plays a crucial role in providing access to information and promoting literacy and education. However, in many parts of the world, including North Nias Regency, libraries are often underutilized. This study seeks to understand the factors that contribute to the low use of the North Nias Regency Library and Archives Office, with the ultimate goal of improving library services and increasing community engagement.

Methodology

The population studied included all 279 library members, and 74 people were used as research samples based on the Slovin formula. The results of the analysis showed that there were three main factors contributing to the low use of the North Nias Regency Library and Archives Library, namely library facilities and infrastructure, library collections, and less effective library promotions.
