Introduction

Adequate health services are the basic needs of the community, especially in the Puskesmas which is the frontline in providing health services. The quality of basic medical services by doctors at the Sukamerindu Health Center, Teluk Segara District, Bengkulu City, in 2002, was a serious problem that had implications for patient satisfaction. This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of basic medical services by doctors at Sukamerindu Health Center on patient satisfaction.

Background

The Sukamerindu Health Center is a primary healthcare facility that provides basic medical services to the community. However, in 2002, the quality of these services was found to be low, which had a negative impact on patient satisfaction. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the implementation of basic medical services by doctors and patient satisfaction.

Methodology

This study used a survey with an explanatory type, which focuses on the relationship between two variables: basic medical services by the doctor and patient satisfaction. The methodology used was regression analysis, which allows researchers to evaluate the effect of various factors statistically. The research population included the entire community in the work area of the Sukamerindu Health Center, with data obtained through a questionnaire filled by 72 respondents who meet the criteria as a research sample.

Results

From the results of the analysis using the SPSS program, it was found that basic medical services by doctors at the Sukamerindu Puskesmas are in the medium category, while patient satisfaction is quite unsatisfactory. This study shows that there is a significant influence between basic medical services and patient satisfaction, with a significance value of 0,000. In addition, the two independent sub variables, namely the implementation of basic medical services and the existence of doctors, also showed a significant effect. The implementation of basic medical services has a stronger influence (beta value 1.139) compared to the presence of a doctor (beta value 0.780).

Discussion

The results of this study indicate that the implementation of basic medical services by doctors at Sukamerindu Puskesmas has a significant effect on patient satisfaction. The contribution of basic medical services by doctors to patient satisfaction was recorded at 60.9%. This shows that the improvement in the quality of the implementation of basic medical services is very influential on the level of patient satisfaction. Therefore, it is important for the management of the Puskesmas to focus on improving the implementation of the basic medical service process and ensuring the existence of doctors in the Puskesmas in accordance with established standards.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the improvement in the implementation and process of basic medical services by the Puskesmas doctor must be the main focus to increase patient satisfaction. Doctors need to be reminded to function optimally in basic medical service capacity, not as managerial staff. In this way, it is expected that health services at the Sukamerindu Health Center, Bengkulu City, can be improved, and patient satisfaction can be obtained better. This is important for public health and can help in achieving national health goals.
