Introduction

In today's digital era, social media has become an essential tool for people to access information, connect with others, and express themselves. Among the various social media platforms, Instagram has emerged as one of the most popular platforms, especially among teenagers. The Chelsea Indonesia Community Supporter Club (CISC) Medan, a community of football enthusiasts, has also been actively using Instagram to share information, updates, and news about the club. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Instagram Plesbol social media on meeting the information needs of CISC Medan community members.

Theoretical Background

The theory of "uses and gratifications" explains how social media users are looking for the fulfillment of their various needs. In this context, social media not only functions as a means of communication but also as a tool to meet information needs. This study uses the correlational method, which is designed to find the relationship between the variables of the use of social media and the variable fulfillment of information needs.

Methodology

This study uses a multi-stage sampling method, with a combination of purposive sampling and accidental sampling. From the population of CISC Medan members, totaling 214 people, this study took 32 respondents based on the Arikunto formula. The data analysis is carried out through several techniques, including single table analysis, cross table analysis, and hypothesis testing. The hypothesis test uses the formula for the Rank-Order relations by Spearman, which is supported by the Guilford scale.

Results

The results of the analysis showed that there was a strong and significant relationship between the use of the Instagram Plesbol account and meeting information needs among CISC Medan members. The hypothesis proposed in this study, where HA was accepted and Ho was rejected, showed that the use of social media Plesbol had a positive influence on meeting information needs.

Discussion

The findings of this study suggest that Instagram as a social media is not just a place to socialize, but also functions as an important source of information for the community. This shows that the use of social media in the context of community such as CISC Medan can increase the relationship between members and strengthen the sense of solidarity through access to relevant and latest information.

Conclusion

Overall, this research underlines the importance of understanding the effectiveness of social media in meeting the needs of information, especially among adolescents and communities. The use of appropriate platforms such as Instagram can be a very effective tool in maintaining the communication and information needed by community members, as well as optimizing their experience in interacting and participating in community activities.
