As the world's population continues to grow, the demand for nutritious and delicious fruits has never been higher. One such fruit that has gained popularity in recent years is the salak, a type of fruit that is native to Southeast Asia. However, the quality and quantity of salak fruits can be affected by various factors, including soil pH, C-organic content, soil texture, elevation, and slope. In this article, we will explore the relationship between these factors and salak sugar content in West Angkola District.

Introduction

The salak fruit is a type of fruit that is rich in nutrients and has a sweet taste. In this study, we aimed to examine the relationship between these factors and salak sugar content in West Angkola District, South Tapanuli Regency. The study was conducted at the Research and Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from December 2019 to April 2020.

Methodology

In this study, we used a stratified sampling method to collect 30 samples of soil and salak fruits as research objects. The soil analysis included measurement of soil texture using the hydrometer method, C-organic content through the walkley and black methods, as well as soil pH with electrometry methods. In addition, salak fruit sugar levels were measured using Hand Refractrometer ATC with a range of 0-32% Brix.
