The results of this study showed that the leaders at the Darul Mursyid Islamic Boarding School in South Tapanuli applied downward communication effectively both in verbal and non-verbal form. Interactions and coordination carried out by leaders with members are carried out in various ways, such as:

Morning Meeting: This activity is a moment to inform the duties and orders directly to employees. This provides an opportunity for leaders to explain the desired goals and expectations of each task.
Weekly and Monthly Meetings: In this meeting, the leader can review the achievements that have been achieved, discuss the obstacles encountered, and plan the steps forward. This kind of meeting also allows a two-way discussion, where members can provide input.
Technology-Based Communication: This makes it easier for boarding school members to stay connected and get the latest information without having to wait for a direct meeting.

Barriers to Communication

Although there are various communication methods applied, it cannot be denied that there are several obstacles in the implementation of leadership communication in pesantren.
